Join us on this adventure in Borneo where we challenge ourselves on mountains, jungles, rivers and seas! This is one that we put together ourselves for an adventure that no one else is offering!

Borneo Adventure – Itinerary
DAY 1 – Arrive Kota Kinabalu – Borneo – Arrive in the exciting Capital of Borneo Kota Kinabalu (KK) – relax – Hostel Day 1 – Arrive in KK
DAY 2 – Kota Kinabalu Briefing – we take in our surroundings by the South China Sea. Team briefing that evening and final checklist before departure to Mount Kinabalu the following morning – Hostel
DAY 3 – Climb Mt Kinabalu
Early start as we drive to the national Park and start our ascent up Mount Kinabalu. Hike through the forest to reach our Mountain Hut for the night where we will receive instruction and equipment for the following day’s climb and Via Ferrata!
Today you will start your climbing Mount Kinabalu adventure. You will be collected at 6:30am from your Hostel and your private minibus transfers will transfer you to Kinabalu Park Headquarters (a ~ 2 – 2.5 hour journey). The minivans used can take maximum 7 pax per van. On arrival you will register for your climb and then be transferred to Timpohan Gate – the starting point for your trek to Pendent Hut. You will need to arrive at Pendent Hut before 3pm – at 3pm you will join the mandatory Via Ferrata familiarisation briefing session. Dinner at Laban Rata Restaurant.

DAY 4 – Climb Mt Kinabalu
Early start as we ascend Mount Kinabalu to reach the Summit for sunrise. After this, gear up as we tackle one of the worlds highest Via Ferrata’s and climb around the top of Mt Kinabalu! Descend to base and relax. – coach journey to hotel.An early wake up (~ 2am) and start your trek up to Low’s Peak Summit. Reach the summit (take a few celebratory photos) and watch the sunrise over the Crocker Mountain Range. Start to head back to Pendent Hut and on the way back you will complete the Walk the Torq activity (this will take 2 – 3 hours to complete). Head back to Pendent Hut for breakfast before starting your trek back down to Timpohan Gate (a 4 – 5 hour trek). On arrival at Timpohan Gate you will be transferred by minibus back to the entrance area for Kinabalu Park Headquarters. You can choose to buy lunch at a cafe at KInabalu Park Haedquarters. Once the group is all back at Kinabalu Park Headquarters (expected by late afternoon) you will start your transfer back to Kota Kinabalu to your Hostel. Arrive back at KK late afternoon / early evening.

DAY 5 – Free Day
Today is a free day for the group to chill out and relax after climbing Mount Kinabalu or use to explore Kota Kinabalu.

DAY 6 – Snorkelling
Today you will join a Guided Snorkelling Trip in the tropical waters of Tunku Abdul Rahman Marine Park (as part of our scheduled trip). A perfect way to relax before your trekking adventure starts tomorrow! Meet for 8:45am at the entrance to Jesselton Point Jetty – our Instructors will meet you here and escort you to our boat(s) for a 9am boat departure. You’ll be in small groups per PADI Instructor ensuring you have a high quality, safe and fun snorkelling experience. During the lunch break you could choose to ride the Coral Flyer island to island zip line for some added adventure (at extra cost). After you’ve finished your snorkeling activities in the afternoon we cruise slowly back to Jesselton Jetty in central KK. Overnight at Akinabalu Youth Hostel.
DAY 7 – Jungle Trek & Survival Skills
Today you will join a jungle trekking adventure and have the chance to learn some jungle survival skills. Your trekking and biking activities will both take place in the Kiulu Valley. It will be really hot & humid, even at night, so come prepared. Both the trek and the cycling routes can be shortened or lengthened, depending on participants’ abilities.
At 8am you will be collected from your Hostel in KK. After a 1 hour transfer by minibus you’ll arrive at the trek starting point. After a safety briefing you’ll start trekking. the trekking terrain will involve a couple of small hills otherwise it’s almost flat, pass through quiet village, rubber and pineapple plantations, patches of secondary forest and over hanging bridges across rivers. You’ll also learn some Bornean survival skills during the trek. After ~ 3 – 3.5 hours you’ll arrive at Lg Pa Kou survival camp. It’s then time for lunch. In the afternoon you’ll set up your own hammock and sleeping space and join more survival skills activities (there’s plenty of really hands-on stuff to do!!). Late afternoon you’ll have a chance to cool down with a swim in river (if water level permits, subject to your EL’s safety decision). At ~ 6.30pm it’s time for dinner at the Survival camp. After dinner you’ll have the chance to go frog-hunting followed by a sit around the camp fire for some Bornean stories, a quick blowpipe competition or some reflection on the day. After all that you’ll be ready for a good night’s sleep under the stars.
DAY 8 – Biking Adventure
It’s an early start today! You’ll be woken at 6.30am ready for breakfast at 7am. You’ll then pack up and clean up camp ready by 8.30am to start a 1 hour trek out to the meeting point (for your bus pick up). You will need to carry your belongings (backpacks) to the bus and leave them in there while cycling. Once you meet the bus you’ll have a short 20-30 mins transfer to the mountain biking start point. At ~10am you’ll have a safety briefing before starting your biking tour. You’ll then bike through quiet village roads (mixed sealed, unsealed, single track trails), over hanging bridges, by rubber plantations and fruit orchards and patches of forest, passing cows, dogs, chickens and smiling village kids. At ~ 12noon you’ll arrive at Tuaran for a lunch break. After lunch, ~1pm, you’ll cycle back to the bike starting point on a different route. After 1.5 hours of biking you’ll arrive back at start point and have a quick refreshment. At 3pm you’ll start your 1 hour transfer back to your Hotel in KK.
This evening you will be staying in the Grandis Hotel as a treat on your last night. Don’t forget to visit the hotel’s Roof Top Bar and watch the sun set on a lovely tropical day! Overnight at Grandis Hotel.
DAY 9 – Fly back to the UK – Today you start your journey back home. You’ll have time in the morning to explore central KK or do some last minute gift shopping. Check out of the hotel by 12 noon. You will be collected from the hotel early – mid afternoon for your transfer to BKI Airport. It’s time to say goodbye to Borneo and start your journey back home.
